Waltham, MA – The Workers Compensation Research Institute (WCRI) recently announced that it will host a free 30-minute webinar to explore key drivers shaping medical payment growth in recent years across 27 states.
“Medical payments per claim increased in most WCRI study states between 2022 and 2025, although these increases varied considerably across states. Understanding the factors behind these trends is important, as many of the same forces are likely to continue shaping medical costs in the years ahead,” said Sebastian Negrusa, vice president of research at WCRI.
The webinar will address key questions, including:
- How did changes in prices and utilization contribute to recent changes in medical payments per claim?
- What other factors may have contributed to growth in medical payments per claim across most states?
The findings from CompScope™ Medical Benchmarks, 2026 Edition reflect the experience of non-COVID-19 claims through March 2025. The 27 study states represent about 68% of all workers’ compensation benefit payments nationwide. Detailed analyses are available for 12 states, with each report providing comparative data for all 27 study states.
