Washington, DC – The National Safety Council (NSC) recently announced that José Samperio has been appointed to the NSC Board of Directors. He is the fourth person to join the board this year after NSC appointed a new chair and welcomed three new members at the 2023 NSC Safety Congress & Expo in October.
Samperio is vice president and general manager for Cummins North America On-Highway business, and has nearly 20 years of experience at Cummins across various fields. He began his career as a product engineer before working in the field as a service engineer and in distribution service shop operations. Before entering his current role, Samperio was the engine business strategy leader, where he was instrumental in helping craft the long-term vision for Cummins powertrain business. With a passion for the trucking industry, he has served on several transportation boards and advisory councils throughout his career.
“We’re always searching for fresh perspectives and diversity of thought to advance our mission of saving lives and preventing injuries, from the workplace to anyplace,” said Lorraine Martin, NSC president and CEO. “With a deep knowledge of the transportation industry, José brings to the board a wealth of global experience, which will be invaluable in our quest to create lasting safety progress so everyone can live their fullest lives.”
