Columbus, OH – A plumber from Howard, Ohio must reimburse the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation over $42,000 in restitution following his felony conviction of workers’ compensation fraud in a Franklin County courtroom.
A judge ordered Mica Jepsen to pay BWC $42,196 in restitution after he pleaded guilty to workers’ compensation fraud, a fifth-degree felony. The judge also sentenced him to five years of community control. If Jepsen violates the terms of his probation, he is subject to a suspended sentence of 12 months in jail.
Through the investigation, BWC’s Special Investigation Department discovered Jepsen worked as a plumber for two separate companies while receiving BWC disability benefits.
The investigation also proved Jepsen knowingly and with fraudulent intent concealed and withheld his employment as a plumber in order to collect the benefits he otherwise would not have been entitled to receive.
