Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features Enlyte’s release of the second portion of its 2023 Annual Pharmacy Solutions Drug Trends Report, which focuses on important aggregate prescribing patterns for in-and out-of-network prescriptions.
Key findings included that for all classes, scripts per claim decreased 1.7%, cost per script increased 0.5%, and cost per claim decreased 0.7%. Generic utilization increased 0.3 percentage points to 88.7% all prescriptions, up from from 88.4% in 2021. Generic efficiency remained flat at 98.1%. The report also notes that the top 10 therapeutic classes accounted for 75.5% of total scripts and 76.9% of total cost, and 7 of the top 10 therapeutic classes by cost were also in the top 10 for utilization. The report also looks at opioid utilization, claim age, and more.
