Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the National Safety Council’s Kickoff and promotion of National Safety Month in June, which it has recognized since 1996 to bring extra attention to the safety issues faced from the workplace to anyplace.
The NSC noted that the latest available data reveal more than 4,400 preventable workplace deaths and 4.26 million injuries occurred in 2021, with transportation as one of the leading sectors for workplace fatalities. National Safety Month will highlight other ongoing safety issues each week during the month, including Emergency Preparedness in week 1; Slips, Trips and Falls in week 2; Heat-Related Illness in week 3; and Hazard Recognition in week 4. NSC will also be releasing additional free to access resources on workplace safety, including graphics, tip sheets, articles and more.
