Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the National Safety Council’s commemoration of the anniversary of the MSD Pledge, which has a goal of reducing MSDs by 25% by 2025, at its second annual Workplace Safety Summit.
Initial findings were also revealed from the MSD Solutions Index, a survey used to provide pledge members with individualized feedback on areas of success and opportunity for improvement related to their current MSD reduction efforts, and to help identify broader industry trends impacting MSD prevention efforts. A full report will be published in late 2023, but early insights included that organizations that consider many MSD risk factors and rely on standardized assessment tools and data to determine where safety improvements need to be made are generally more successful in MSD risk reduction than organizations that do not, and that just a third of organizations are currently using technology to prevent MSDs, potentially indicating gaps in both knowledge and access to safety innovations.
