TDI-DWC Requests Comments on Medical Quality Review Process Changes

June 22, 2023 - WorkCompWire

Austin, TX – The Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) recently announced that it is accepting public comments on proposed changes to the Medical Quality Review (MQR) process.

The MQR process is a medical case review based on a written complaint, which may include an internal referral, a plan-based audit, or monitoring resulting from a consent order.

The proposed revised MQR process is not a formal rule proposal under the Administrative Procedure Act.

DWC will not treat comments as formal public comments. But DWC will consider any substantive comments before adopting the revised MQR process. The proposed revised MQR process is on the DWC website.

Submit written comments on the proposed revised MQR process to: RuleComments@tdi.texas.gov, or mail or deliver your comments to:

Legal Services, MC-LS
Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation
PO Box 12050
Austin, Texas 78711-2050

The deadline to submit comments is 5 p.m., Central time, on July 17, 2023.
