Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap starts on a somber note as we honor Workers’ Memorial Day, highlighting the US Department of Labor’s ceremony and online memorial.
The DOL noted that today, work-related injuries claim the lives of approximately 14 people each day in the US – one life lost every 101 minutes. There were 5,190 such deaths in 2021. Workers Memorial Day pays tribute to those people, all the fallen workers before them, and the survivors who remain to grieve and carry on.
We hope you will take a moment, as we have, to acknowledge those we’ve lost across the country, and to remember that behind each statistic and report that comes across our desks are real people, who have other good people (like you!) out there working to keep them safe and able to return to their families, and to help those who are not lost to get back on their feet after injury or illness.
