WorkCare, Inc. Acquires Medical Services Contractor HPM Corporation

April 7, 2023 - WorkCompWire

Anaheim, CA – WorkCare, Inc., an occupational health, wellness and absence management company, recently announced that it has acquired HPM Corporation (HPMC), the prime medical services contractor at the Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Hanford Site in southeastern Washington, effective April 1, 2023.

HPMC Occupational Medicine Services has been meeting the health and medical-related safety needs of more than 8,000 DOE and site contractor employees in Richland, Wash., and the 200-West Area of the Hanford Site as a prime contractor since 2012.

The acquisition aligns with WorkCare’s strategic business development strategy and involves plans to continue to provide best-practice occupational health services to the Hanford Site workforce in compliance with DOE requirements.

“We’re excited to welcome HPMC and its team of proven experts to the WorkCare family of companies,” said Bill Nixon, WorkCare’s president and chief executive officer. “Given our experience in occupational medicine and our company origins, WorkCare is exceptionally well-prepared to support continued delivery of essential medical surveillance and other clinical services to protect and promote employee health at the site.”

The Hanford Site is one of the world’s largest nuclear waste cleanup projects. In 2022, the DOE’s Office of Environmental Management announced that workers began large-scale treatment of radioactive waste from underground storage areas for the first time in the site’s history, completed construction of a protective enclosure around a nuclear reactor and treated more than 2 million gallons of contaminated groundwater.
