Workers Compensation System and NCCI Begin Milestone Year

January 26, 2023 - WorkCompWire

Boca Raton, FL – A milestone year for the workers compensation system has started as the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) launches its 100th anniversary celebration. NCCI was created in 1923 to foster a healthy, stable market for workers compensation.

“NCCI’s mission today is the same as it was a century ago,” said Bill Donnell, President and CEO of NCCI. “We have delivered on that promise through 17 recessions, one world war, and a four-fold expansion of the US workforce, now 165 million workers strong.”

NCCI serves 36 states and jurisdictions as a licensed rating, advisory, and statistical organization. NCCI’s thought leaders analyze workplace trends and deliver insights to empower informed decision-making.

Workers compensation is a vital element of the United States economy that protects workers and their families, improves worker safety, and supports economic growth.

Lisa Corless, NCCI Board Chair and president and CEO of AF Group, said, “I’m incredibly proud of the work NCCI has done to support the industry throughout their 100 years. NCCI’s commitment to excellence and continuously innovating their offerings is vital to prepare our system for the future.”

NCCI has launched a special section on ncci.com that shares its perspective on the past 100 years of the workers compensation industry.

NCCI will provide additional insights in 2023 as part of its ongoing programming that includes its Annual Insights Symposium in May and regular Thought Leadership reports.
