Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of a new report from WCRI that found 7% of workers with COVID-19 claims received treatment for long COVID after the acute period of the infection.
WCRI noted that while long COVID prevalence was the highest among workers who were hospitalized during an acute stage of disease, some workers with limited medical care early after the infection also developed long COVID symptoms. Key areas of exploration for the study included how often workers with COVID-19 receive medical care beyond a short quarantine and/or recovery period; the prevalence of long COVID symptoms among workers with COVID-19; industry and worker characteristics associated with long COVID; and how rates of long COVID vary across states.
