Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features AmTrust Financial’s recent release of its 2022 Restaurant Risk Report, which examines common injuries and the resulting time off of work for restaurant workers.
The new report looked at almost 170,000 claims and found that while overall injuries are down, specific injuries, including crushing, fainting, inflammation, strains and mental stress are up significantly compared to pre-pandemic numbers. For example, strains are up 23% compared to pre-pandemic numbers in 2019, crushing incidents are up 89% and mental stress is up 71%. Other key findings included that injuries are the highest in July and lowest in January, February, September, and November. The report also includes loss control tips on how to reduce the most common injuries.
