Washington, DC – The members of the American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) recently approved new officers, effective Jan. 1, 2023, to its Board of Directors during the association’s annual business meeting.
Alan Schnitzer, chairman and CEO of The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV) has been elected chair, and Dino E. Robusto, chairman and CEO of CNA Financial Corporation (NYSE: CNA), has been elected chair-elect.

As part of the Board’s leadership team, Alan has provided invaluable guidance to APCIA and our members.

Alan Schnitzer is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Travelers. Prior to his appointment as CEO, he served in a series of key leadership roles at Travelers, including as President of the company’s Business Insurance and Bond & Specialty Insurance segments. He joined Travelers in 2007 as Vice Chairman and Chief Legal Officer, overseeing a broad portfolio of corporate functions. Since becoming CEO in 2015, Schnitzer has led Travelers and its 30,000 employees in an ambitious innovation agenda, digitizing the value chain and investing in new technologies, products and services to lead the industry in defining the future of property casualty insurance. An active proponent of the value of collaboration between the public and private sectors, Schnitzer is a member of the Business Roundtable and serves on the executive committee of the Partnership for New York City. Schnitzer also serves on the Boards of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the University of Pennsylvania and New York City Ballet. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Schnitzer is a graduate of The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia Law School.
Dino E. Robusto – APCIA’s Chair-elect

Dino E. Robusto is Chairman and CEO of CNA Financial Corporation. Since joining CNA in November 2016, Robusto has re-energized the business and reinvigorated its underwriting culture. He is a recognized industry leader with extensive experience across virtually every insurance discipline. He previously spent almost 30 years of his career at Chubb where he was Executive Vice President and President of Chubb’s Commercial and Specialty Lines division, among other roles. Robusto serves on the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement USA and the Board of Trustees for The Institutes. He is a graduate of McGill University in Montreal and the Wharton Business School Executive Management Program.
