Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features WCRI’s announcement of an upcoming free webinar that will examine findings from its FlashReport, Interstate Variation and Trends in Workers’ Compensation Drug Payments: 2018Q1 to 2021Q1.
Key findings included that payments for dermatological agents increased in several states, driven by physician dispensing and mail-order pharmacies, and provides state by state patterns and trends for prescribing of several other types of drugs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs [NSAIDs], opioids, compounds, etc.). Key areas of focus in the webinar will be drug groups that make up the most prescription drug payments in workers’ comp; the latest trends in spending; emerging cost drivers and whether physician dispensing is driving the costs for any of the drug groups in any states; how payments for the various drug groups differ among the study states; and whether prescription drug spending changed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
WorkCompWire will return on Tuesday. Have a great Labor Day weekend, and remember to take a moment to appreciate the workers who made great sacrifices for the strength and prosperity of future generations!
