Carlos Luna Joins Choices Case Management as President and CEO

September 30, 2022 - WorkCompWire

Brentwood, CA – Choices Case Management recently announced that Carlos Luna has joined its leadership team as President and CEO.

Together with Choices founders Sue Bowers and Connie Rominger, Carlos will bring his 15+ years’ experience leading, developing, implementing, and marketing complex business concepts to the workers’ compensation industry.

“Throughout our 20-plus years, Sue and I have often seen that companies in our industry, as they grow, lose some of characteristics that made them unique, successful and great to work for in the first place,” observes Choices co-founder Connie Rominger.

“We know that to continue our growth trajectory, while maintaining our service quality, values and staff-supportive culture,” Connie continues, “we needed another partner on our leadership team with the experience, skills, deep industry knowledge, passion and ethics that complement our own. Carlos is that partner.”

Most recently serving in executive roles at TRISTAR Insurance Group and managed care service provider Risico, Carlos also served as a key legislative and regulatory advisor in the adoption of EBM standards in California and New York, providing a deep understanding of the framework needed for improved patient health outcomes and cost savings.

He’s the current Vice President of the Hispanic Insurance and Risk Management Association, and a recognized industry thought leader, speaking at national industry and trade events, and blogging on regional and national issues facing the workers’ comp community.

“I’m thrilled to join the Choices Case Management team,” Carlos says. “I was drawn to the organization’s inclusive culture that mirrored my 15-year career in workers’ compensation, advocating for employee-centric medical management utilizing trustworthy evidence-based medicine standards and championing diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in the workplace. Building atop a very strong foundation constructed by Connie and Sue, I’m equal parts humbled and excited to lead such a fine organization into the future.”

“We knew what we were looking for, just not who,” Choices co-founder Sue Bowers recalls, “and in Carlos we knew we’d found the perfect match to ensure that our continued investments – in our services, technology, processes, culture and people – produce the best results for everyone involved.”

“With Carlos at the helm, Connie and I will be better able to focus our time and efforts on our primary roles directing Choices operations and nursing functions,” Sue explains, “and working together we’ll ensure Choices continued growth, independence and success.”
