Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the announcement from Ascellus of the release of a new study on the benefits of brief work-focused cognitive behavioral therapy for frontline essential workers whose return-to-work process is impeded by stress, anxiety, and depressed mood as a result of COVID-19.
The study, published in The Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, involved 103 healthcare personnel, first responders, and other essential workers who suffered psychological distress as a result of contracting the COVID-19 virus. Findings included that within 12 weeks, 80% of injured workers returned to work and experienced a 40% improvement in functioning on work-related goals.
