Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the announcement from NYSIF that the New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) has started accepting applications for first adult-use cannabis retail dispensary licenses.
Additionally, the OCM announced that the State will begin a campaign to assist hundreds of established and emerging businesses that have been licensed to participate in the state’s legalized, recreational cannabis market. The New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF) will lead the campaign, helping companies to fulfill their workers’ compensation, disability, and paid family leave requirements, and ensure that their workers are fully protected if they are injured on or off the job. NYSIF noted that the recreational cannabis market is expected to reach $4.2 billion by 2027 and to create up to 60,000 jobs.
