WCF Insurance Awards Scholarships to Family Members of Workers Who Passed Away

August 5, 2022 - WorkCompWire

Salt Lake City, UT – WCF Insurance recently awarded scholarships to 27 children and spouses of workers who lost their lives in work-related incidents.

The scholarships are part of WCF’s Legacy of Learning program, which was established in 1990. Since the program started, WCF has distributed over 1,250 scholarships worth more than $2.4 million.

“Our hearts go out to the families who have lost someone they love in a workplace accident,” said Matt Lyon, WCF Insurance CEO and President. “Every year, we are inspired by the scholarship recipients, whose abilities and energy help them overcome life’s challenges. We are passionate about our commitment to these families and excited to celebrate their success in obtaining their education.”

Scholarship recipient Taelor Hildebrand, who lost her father in a workplace incident, shared her thoughts on the Legacy of Learning program during the event.

“The Legacy of Learning program has made it possible for my mother, my older sister, me, and my younger brother to go to college,” said Hildebrand. “I will forever be grateful for WCF for making our dreams of attending college a reality and encouraging us to keep going despite the trials we were given.”

Taelor has received five Legacy of Learning scholarships. She obtained her Bachelor of Science of Nursing with the help of the scholarship program and is now studying to obtain her Master of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner at Rosemond University of Health Sciences. Her long-term goal is to obtain a dual certification as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.
