Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of the latest edition of WCRI’s CompScope Benchmarks reports, which examine the factors behind changing costs in state workers’ comp systems, including the impact of legislative and regulatory reforms on those costs in 18 different states.
The 22nd edition of the studies compare how the metrics of system performance have changed over time from 2015 through 2020, including income benefits, costs, overall medical payments, use of benefits, duration of temporary disability, benefit delivery expenses, lump-sum settlements, timeliness of payments, and other metrics. Since the reports include experience on claims through March 2021, they also provide a look at how the pandemic impacted non-COVID-19 workers’ compensation claims in the early months of the pandemic.
