Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features Bardavon’s announcement of the results of its case study by an independent firm that found implementation of its Insights Alerts product as part of a workers’ comp physical therapy program resulted in lower duration of physical therapy treatment for both non-surgical and surgical cases.
The study used Bardavon’s PT data for closed cases from a large retail employer over a seven-month period, before and after implementation of the alert system. Cases were normalized for underlying risk factors using Bardavon’s Outlier Prediction Model, which categorizes cases into low-, medium-, and high-risk categories, and predicts the likelihood of a case becoming an outlier based on information collected during the initial evaluation. Key findings included that outlier cases were reduced by 38 % overall, the average number of visits was reduced by 7%, and average duration was reduced by 13%.
