Itasca, IL – The National Safety Council recently noted it is pleased with the Senate confirmation of Doug Parker as assistant secretary for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration at the Department of Labor.
This is the first confirmed leader in that position in more than four and a half years and is needed as the nation continues to fight the coronavirus pandemic in workplaces and communities.
With a confirmed national workplace safety leader, NSC looks forward to working with Mr. Parker and OSHA in the following ways:
- Increasing vaccine uptake among workers through employers to truly move the pandemic behind us
- Reversing the upward trend of workplace fatalities
- Increasing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in the workplace safety field
At NSC, the health and safety of U.S. workers are at the forefront of decision-making, and the Council anticipates working closely with Mr. Parker toward our shared goal of zero workplace fatalities.
