KY Labor Cabinet Announces DWC Administrative Law Judge Opening

Frankfort, KY – The Kentucky Labor Cabinet recently announced that the Workers’ Compensation Nominating Committee is now accepting applications to fill a vacant Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) position in the Kentucky Department of Workers’ Claims for a term expiring July 14, 2024. The position is full-time and appointees shall not hold any other public office or maintain any private practice.

Pursuant to KRS 342.230(2), an applicant must be a licensed attorney with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the Commonwealth in the practice of workers’ compensation law or a related field and have extensive knowledge of workers’ compensation law. The salary to be paid is that of a Circuit Court Judge.

Applications shall include a cover letter, current resume and a completed Application Supplement. The Application Supplement form may be accessed at the following link: Administrative Law Judge Application Supplement (PDF).

Applications shall be submitted via email to norah.higgins@ky.gov and must be received on or before noon (EST) Wednesday, April 21, 2021. Any application received after that time will not be considered. Questions may be directed to Ms. Higgins at norah.higgins@ky.gov.

  • William Grover Arnett, Chairman – Salyersville, KY
  • Kenneth J. Dietz – Union, KY
  • Jack Dulworth – Louisville, KY
  • Joseph M. Schulte – Covington, KY
  • Robert Leo Miller – Harlan, KY
