WorkCompRecap: Climbing & Changing!

January 6, 2021 - WorkCompWire

Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of the latest analysis from CWCI that found California workers’ comp COVID-19 monthly claim volume, which fell sharply in August and September, has been trending up again – climbing 9.0% in October, and more than doubling in November.

CWCI noted that the total number of reported COVID-19 claims through November was 65,165, or nearly 1 out of every 8 California workers’ comp claims reported in 2020. Other key findings included that the Inland Empire/Orange County region accounted for more COVID-19 claims in October and November than any other region — including Los Angeles County; and that health care workers’ share of COVID-19 claims has declined from 47.8% in spring to 31.2% in the fall.
