Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the announcement that the Board of Directors of LUBA Workers’ Comp recently approved its acquisition of Florida based FHM Insurance Services. FHM provides workers’ compensation coverage through independent agents across seven states, and once added together, LUBA will provide workers’ comp coverage across 14 states. Also in the news today is the Ohio BWC’s announcement that public employers will pay $14.8 million, or an average of 10% less in premiums this year thanks to a rate reduction that went into effect January 1st. The BWC noted the cut was made possible by declining injury trends and relatively low medical inflation costs, is the twelfth cut for public employers since 2009, and follows a 10% cut in 2020.
