Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap finishes off the short week with the release of WCRI’s CompScope Medical Benchmarks for Pennsylvania, which found that medical payments per claim in the state have been mostly stable since 2013, following growth between 2000 and 2013.
WCRI also noted however that hospital outpatient payments per claim grew 6.7% per year on average from 2013 to 2018, more than most other study states, while nonhospital payments per claim and hospital payments per inpatient episode grew 2- 3% per year, respectively. The report also pointed out that hospital outpatient facility services was a key driver of the growth in overall payments per service.
