Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features One Call’s recent release of a whitepaper on how the COVID-19 pandemic has served as a catalyst for accelerating the adoption of telerehab approaches in workers’ comp.
The paper noted that prior to the pandemic, there was a perception that telerehab was inferior to traditional PT, and was not widely offered by adjusters, who represented less than 1% of total PT referrals. Like the simultaneous explosion in use of video conferencing for those working remotely, One Call saw a 650% increase in telerehab referrals – including an 8% increase from adjusters and nurse case managers specifically requesting PT be delivered virtually. The paper goes on to examine changes in perception, outcomes, and projections for the future.
