Louisville, KY – ClearPath Mutual Insurance Company recently announced the appointment of two new members of the company’s Board of Directors, Jan West and Jeff Borkowski.
West is a member of Goldberg Simpson law firm in Louisville, Kentucky, and practices law in the areas of business and commercial litigation and employment law. West also represents employers in EEOC claims, discrimination claims, sexual harassment claims, non-compete agreement disputes, drafting severance agreements and personnel manuals and advising businesses regarding termination of employees; proper classification as exempt v. non-exempt employees; and compliance with state and federal statutes including the Family Medical Leave Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act.
West serves as an arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. In addition, she is on the commercial arbitration panel for the American Arbitration Association where she hears and decides contract claims in Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and Alabama. West was selected for inclusion in Kentucky Super Lawyers for 2008-2016, 2019 and 2020, and the Best Lawyers in America for 2020.
Since joining ClearPath Mutual as the Chief Executive Officer, Borkowski has led the process of the company receiving a credit rating from AM Best, and expanding into Tennessee and Indiana. In 2019, AM Best assigned a Financial Strength Rating of A- (Excellent) and a Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating of “a-” to ClearPath Mutual. The company began writing workers’ compensation coverage in Tennessee by the end of 2019, and plans to write workers’ compensation coverage in Indiana by the end of the first quarter of 2020. In addition, Borkowski finalized a partnership with the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, offering members of participating chambers an association discount on new business, and current policyholders at renewal, effective January 1, 2020.
Prior to joining ClearPath Mutual, Borkowski held the position of Vice President of Underwriting and Marketing with Brethren Mutual Insurance Company in Hagerstown, MD. During his time with Brethren Mutual, Borkowski led multiple projects, including the successful implementation of predictive modeling and expansion into other states. He also worked as the company’s liaison with AM Best, state departments of insurance, reinsurance brokers, industry associations, and lobbyist groups.
