Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap finishes off the short week with the release of WCRI’s CompScope Medical Benchmarks for Illinois report, which found that the average medical payment per claim with more than seven days of lost time in the state was more than 15% higher than the median of 18 states studied.
WCRI also noted that for 2015 claims (at 36 months), the average medical payment per claim was 30% higher than typical. The differences were attributed to relatively high fee schedule rates, which ranged from about 45 to 513% above Medicare rates in the state in 2019.
