Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the DEA’s announcement that in cooperation with national, tribal, and community partners, the 18th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day will occur across the country this Saturday, October 26th.
The DEA noted that there has been robust participation in the events, which are now in their tenth year and have collected more than 11 million pounds (more than 6,000 tons) of expired, unused and unwanted prescription medications. This weekend, more than 5,250 collection sites manned by nearly 4,500 partner law enforcement agencies will be open 10 am to 2pm local time for free, anonymous dropoffs. For the first time this weekend the DEA will also be accepting vaping devices and cartridges at any of its drop off locations.
