Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the California Commission on Health and Safety and Workers’ Compensation’s (CHSWC) release of its twenty-fourth Annual Report, which presents information about the state’s health and safety and workers’ comp systems and makes recommendations to improve their operations.
The 2018 edition of the report also highlights recent legislation and regulations that incorporated CHSWC’s recommendations, and noted it will continue to examine return to work, wage loss, access to, appropriateness, and timeliness of care, the formulary, fraud detection, and friction, admin delays, and backlogs, among other system features. Key items from the report included a CHSWC study by RAND that evaluated the Return-to-Work Fund and found low take-up among eligible workers, and the committee’s suggestions for improvements.
