Dallas, TX – Rich Gergasko, Texas Mutual Insurance Company president and CEO, recently received the 2019 Philanthropic Leadership Award from the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF), a nonprofit organization working with the insurance industry to help communities and enrich lives.
Gergasko accepted the award at the 2019 IICF Southeast Division Benefit Dinner, which celebrates industry philanthropy while raising funds for nonprofit grants.
“I’m proud to lead Texas Mutual and the insurance industry in building stronger and safer communities,” Gergasko said. “This recognition from IICF, an organization that shares our commitment to giving back, is a testament to the difference that our company and industry can make in Texas. It’s humbling to guide those efforts.”
Gergasko was selected for the 2019 Philanthropic Leadership Award in recognition of his generosity, philanthropic impact within his community, and leadership at Texas Mutual and throughout the industry.
Since joining Texas Mutual in 2013, Gergasko has driven the company’s devotion to serving the community. His philanthropic attitude is exemplified through his actions and initiatives, such as the company’s $10 million grant program to help policyholders affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Gergasko also supports and encourages his employees to donate their time and talent to charities such as the Ronald McDonald House, United Way and local food banks. In 2018, Texas Mutual employees volunteered 4,470 hours throughout Austin, Houston, Dallas and Lubbock.
Outside of the workplace, Gergasko dedicates his time and energy to causes within his community. He has served on the executive leadership team for the American Heart Association Austin Heart Walk and as chairman of the American Heart Association Austin Board of Directors.
