Austin, TX – Texas Mutual Insurance Company and VFIS of Texas recently awarded a total of $180,000 to non-profit emergency service organizations across Texas through the Emergency Responder Safety, Training & Wellness Grant Program.
Texas Mutual, the state’s leading provider of workers’ compensation insurance and Volunteer Firemen’s Insurance Services of Texas (VFIS of Texas) partners with the State Firefighters’ & Fire Marshals’ Association of Texas to manage the application process and select grant recipients.
“The safety, training and wellness of our emergency responders are improved with the help of these grants,” Barbara Marzean, president of VFIS of Texas, said. “VFIS will continue to support emergency service organizations so that we can help reduce and prevent injuries to or deaths of emergency responders across Texas.”
To be eligible for a grant, each organization must submit an application that outlines a specific need or project the grant would fund. Applications are open through the end of the year and grant presentations will take place in the spring of 2019. This is the fifth year in a row Texas Mutual and VFIS of Texas will award grants to emergency responders across the state.
Texas Mutual President and CEO Rich Gergasko said the grants align perfectly with the company’s mission of keeping Texans safe.
“A top priority at Texas Mutual is our commitment to safety, so it’s our pleasure to recognize organizations that have the same commitment,” Gergasko said. “Investing in these emergency service organizations that are dedicated to the safety, training and wellness of their employees and our communities is a no-brainer and an opportunity we are grateful to have.”
