Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features NCCI’s recent release of a synopsis and video on hot topics in workers’ compensation for 2018, noting that as legislative sessions start across the states, new legislative proposals are already on the horizon that may shape many of the issues on their radar.
Some of the issues that NCCI is planning to track throughout the year include the legalization of marijuana, as many states continue to legalize it for meidcal and recreational use; continued opioid trends, including drug formulary adoptions, limitations on physician dispensing and repackaged drugs, promoting treatment, and limiting supplies of painkillers; high air ambulance costs, which have been debated and have some pending legislation around them; Opt-out, which had a quiet 2017; and Cybersecurity.
