Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features Mitchell’s recent survey with Risk & Insurance that asked workers’ comp professionals to gauge which technologies they believe will have the greatest impact on the industry in the future, and which operational areas will improve the most as a result.
Key findings included that 45% of respondents believe telemedicine will have the biggest impact on the industry, followed by artificial intelligence (19%), mobile technologies (14%), wearable devices (10%), and chatbots (one percent). More than 24% of the survey respondents said they are very likely to adopt such technologies in the next five years, while about 10% of respondents believe that none the aforementioned technologies will significantly impact workers’ comp. The survey also found that the key factor influencing the adoption of advanced technologies is their potential to increase the effectiveness of cost containment efforts.
