WorkCompRecap: Fee Findings!

November 26, 2017 - WorkCompWire

Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap interrupts your Cyber Monday shopping with the release of a new report from WCRI that examine all three rounds of the Delaware fee schedule changes that were enacted in House Bill (HB) 373.

The fee schedule changes in HB 373 sought to reduce medical expenses by 33% by January 31, 2017, over three consecutive annual reductions: a 20% reduction in 2015 and additional 5% and 8% reductions in 2016 and 2017, respectively. Per HB 373, Delaware transitioned to Medicare-based fee schedules for professional services, hospital inpatient and outpatient services, and ambulatory surgery center (ASC) services effective January 31, 2015. Key findings included that after the three updates, overall workers’ comp fee schedule rates for professional services decreased by 40%. In 2017, the overall professional fee schedule in Delaware was 31% above Medicare (down from 123% above Medicare).
