MedCall Healthcare Advisors names Mason as Chief Medical Officer

October 22, 2017 - WorkCompWire

Charlotte, NC – MedCall Healthcare Advisors (MedCall) recently announced the appointment of Dr. Thomas Mason as chief medical officer for the company. Dr. Mason will immediately assume the duties of chief medical officer for MedCall in addition to his duties as chief executive officer and chief medical officer for MedCall Telemedicine Advisory Group (MTAG).

“We made a commitment on day one to build the most comprehensive and effective medical network of Emergency Medicine Physicians in the country,” said Randy Baker, chief executive officer of MedCall. “We are honored to have Dr. Mason oversee his team of 10 senior medical directors and the nationwide network of physicians who have joined our practice.”

MedCall is the nation’s largest provider network of Tele-Emergent medical care for Workers Compensation and healthcare events. The company provides immediate physician intervention to medical events. MedCall utilizes its technology to provide comprehensive injury reporting and documentation to workers compensation carriers and employers.

Together, MedCall and MTAG manage a nationwide medical practice of physicians that are Board Certified in Emergency Medicine to triage Emergency and Non-Emergency Medical events. This strategy creates hyper-efficient notification and documentation for carriers while putting the well-being of the employee first. Having Board Certified Emergency Physicians assume responsibility of making medical decisions reduces employer liability and provides better outcomes while lowering direct medical costs.

“Our technology platform provides immediate connectivity any time someone needs medical attention,” said Baker. “We have been fortunate to select some of the best Emergency Physicians in the country, and with Dr. Masons’ leadership we will continue to build our practice. It is most gratifying for all involved to witness the cost-saving results from eliminating costly and avoidable visits and assisting patients and clients to achieve better overall outcomes.”

Dr. Mason has been a partner in the Mid-Atlantic Emergency Medical Associates (MEMA) since completing his residency. He is also a member of the American Telemedicine Association, the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), the ACEP Telemedicine Section, the ACEP Medical-Legal Committee and has served on the national governing body of ACEP. Dr. Mason has held a number of positions in the North Carolina College of Emergency Physicians, including president in 2001, and he was named the 2006 Emergency Physician of the Year by the organization.

He graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine with a medical degree and completed his emergency medicine residency at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
