Oklahoma City, OK – The Oklahoma Workers’ Compensation Commission (WCC) recently announced the hiring of Molly H. Lawyer to serve as a Tulsa-based Administrative Law Judge (ALJ). She will take the bench on September 5, 2017.
The WCC currently employs five administrative law judges and administered over 7,700 injury filings in 2016.
Lawyer, of Tulsa, is a partner at the Latham, Wagner, Steel & Lehman law firm in Tulsa, OK. She defended workers’ comp claims on behalf of clients such as the Multiple Injury Trust Fund, American Airlines, Wal-Mart, and CompSource Mutual.
“Molly Lawyer will be an effective ALJ due to her extensive knowledge of the system. She exhibits the necessary temperament to adjudicate cases fairly according to the law.” said Commissioner Mark Liotta, the incoming chair of the Commission. “The Tulsa office currently sees 43% of the Commission’s prehearing conferences and 51% of the pending trials with only one full-time ALJ. Currently, an ALJ from Oklahoma City travels to Tulsa on rotation two days a week to hear cases. The addition of Lawyer in the Tulsa office will ensure greater efficiency and expedite outcomes for injured workers and Oklahoma businesses.”
Lawyer was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyer, a legal industry publication, in 2010-2011 and served as Chair of the Workers’ Compensation Division of the Oklahoma Bar Association from 2012-2013.
“I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve and thank the Commission for placing their trust in me,” Lawyer said. “I look forward to using my knowledge and experience to adjudicate cases fairly, according to the law.”
Lawyer earned her bachelors’ degree from the University of Oklahoma and her law degree from the University of Tulsa.
