Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of a new report from CWCI that examined the use of ICD-10 codes in California workers’ comp during the transition from the ICD-9 system. Key findings from the report included that 99% of submitted medical bills used ICD-10 codes and, as expected, a wider range of codes were provided than in the past, but many lacked the additional characters that better define the injury, identify the type of encounter, and improve communication. Also in the news today is One Call’s announcement of its new Relay Transportation program, which offers options for non-emergent ambulatory transportation through a web-based application and upcoming mobile app. A dedicated team will also monitor rides in real-time with the ability to address potential issues.
