Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of a new FlashReport from WCRI that found wide variation in the percentage of claims with worker attorney involvement across 18 state workers’ compensation systems.
The percentage of claims with worker attorneys ranged from 13-14% in Wisconsin and Texas to 49-52% in New Jersey and Illinois, for 2013 claims with more than seven days of lost time. The median of the 18 study states was almost 30%. The study noted that system features may be responsible for at least some of the interstate variation, and examines the high and low ends to uncover some of the factors that may be driving the results.
