Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the announcement from SAIF that it and the Oregon Institute of Occupational Health Sciences at OHSU, and Oregon OSHA have signed an agreement to form an alliance geared toward improving the health, safety and well-being of Oregon workers.
The organizations have teamed up on Total Worker Health, which acknowledges that people’s jobs can impact their overall health, and will advocate for a broader approach to worker well-being beyond the workplace. Cooperative efforts will include to providing training, conducting research and educating Oregon workers on their rights, in an effort to improve overall worker safety and health, and prevent workplace injuries. Total Worker Health principles and practices were established by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). The Oregon Healthy Workforce Center, part of the Oregon Institute of Occupational Health Sciences at OHSU, is a NIOSH Center of Excellence in Total Worker Health, and SAIF is a Total Worker Health Affiliate.
