Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features WCRI’s announcement of the opening of registration and theme for its annual Issues & Research Conference March 2-3, 2017 in Boston, MA.
Noting that 2016 brought many changes and challenges to the workers’ comp system, including the U.S. Department of Labor’s report that questioned whether the workers’ compensation system is fulfilling its obligations to injured workers, WCRI has chosen Persistent Challenges and New Opportunities: Using Research to Accelerate the Dialogue as the conference theme. Issues slated for coverage include the impact of 2016 election on health care (ACA, Medicare, etc.), labor and the workforce, and workers’ comp; whether the workers’ comp system is still fulfilling its mission or needs revisiting; and with opioid use decreasing, alternatives for treating pain.
