Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features a look back from the IAIABC on its third National Conversation on the Future of Workers’ Compensation, which was held earlier this year, and where stakeholders agreed that workers’ comp must be guided by a focus on medical recovery and return to work.
The IAIABC noted that the goals of encouraging timely return to work, assisting employers in maintaining a trained workforce and facilitating quality of life and financial stability of those injured at work were nearly unanimously agreed upon by attendees. Objectives for workers’ comp in 2016 and beyond were also discussed, with only four objectives achieving over 90% agreement: focus on outcomes, reduction of complexity, reduction of disputes, and encouragement of safety, while increasing consistency across jurisdictions only received 48% agreement.
