Denver, CO – The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) announced the launch of a new website for its Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR). This new and improved site will ensure that employers will be able to continue accessing the important resources provided by DVR in an updated and streamlined format. DVR became a division of CDLE in July of this year as a result of a move from the Department of Human Services.
“Though many Coloradans with disabilities possess unique and valuable skill sets, they often face some of the greatest challenges to finding employment,” said Ellen Golombek, Executive Director of CDLE. “Moving DVR into the Department of Labor and Employment has provided us with a unique opportunity to review current department policies and ensure that employers and job seekers can easily access information about DVR resources. This new, user-friendly website will help connect employers with Colorado’s diverse and talented workforce and allow us to better serve communities across the state.”
DVR offers an array of free services to help Coloradans with disabilities gain meaningful employment and match employers with skilled workers. DVR also arranges on-the-job training for job seekers with disabilities and provides business owners with Disability Awareness Training and guidance for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) identifies Vocational Rehabilitation as a required workforce partner and mandates that workers with disabilities be provided access to high-quality workforce services to better prepare them for employment. Moving DVR to CDLE and launching new tools like the updated website will strengthen the state’s response to the new federal provisions.
