Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the big kickoff of the National Workers’ Compensation & Disability Conference here in New Orleans!
First up in the news today is the announcement from the Washington Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) that its “Stay at Work” program has now helped more than 20,000 injured workers and provided more than $50 million to reimburse businesses that take part. The program covers part of the costs to employers associated with offering light-duty jobs to injured workers, helping eligible employees continue working and stay connected to their workplace. L&I also noted that the program and Return-to-work programs like it are helping an estimated 560 injured workers each year avoid possible long-term disability.
