LWCC Announces Executive Leadership Changes

October 28, 2016 - WorkCompWire

Baton Rouge, LA – LWCC recently announced changes to its executive leadership team. Longtime LWCC executive Mike DeLaat retired from his position of senior vice president and chief financial officer after 16 years of service to the company. In addition to DeLaat’s departure, two new members have joined the LWCC executive team—Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Gretchen Hofeling and Chief Actuary Angela McGhee.

DeLaat joined LWCC’s executive team in 2000 as vice president of technological services, overseeing all aspects of finance and accounting as well as the information systems department. He was later promoted to vice president and CFO in 2004, then to senior vice president and CFO in 2009. The 16 years spent at LWCC capped off more than 40 years in the insurance and financial services industry.

Hofeling succeeds DeLaat in managing the company’s financial and accounting operations. She has more than 15 years of experience in the insurance industry, and has served in financial leadership positions in workers’ compensation companies for more than 10 years. She was most recently vice president, corporate controller for Employer Holdings Inc.

McGhee joined LWCC as chief actuary. In this newly-created role, she will work closely with all executive team members and the board of directors to manage actuarial operations and ensure sound financial practices for the company. McGhee brings with her nearly 20 years of experience in ratemaking, reserving and other actuarial responsibilities. Previously, she was employed with the National Council on Compensation Insurance, Inc. (NCCI) as practice leader and senior actuary.

“We are very pleased to welcome Gretchen and Angela to LWCC,” stated Wall. “They bring great value to our leadership team and this organization. As we welcome new members to our team, we must also recognize the contributions of Mike DeLaat. On behalf of the board and everyone at LWCC, we thank Mike for his dedication, service and commitment to the company. He has been a key member of our leadership team and was instrumental to our financial success throughout the years.”

Following this announcement, the LWCC executive leadership team will consist of the following members:

  • Kristin Wall, President and Chief Executive Officer
  • John Hawie, Senior Vice President & Chief Strategy & Investment Officer
  • Paul Buffone, Senior Vice President & Chief Claims & Information Officer
  • Jeffrey Skaggs, Senior Vice President of Policyholder Services & Agency Relations
  • Michael Stiltner, Senior Vice President & General Counsel
  • Gretchen Hofeling, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
  • Angela McGhee, Chief Actuary
