Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features Coventry’s announcement of the launch of its new RxRN program – a team of specially trained and return-to-work focused case managers that target claims that are deemed risky due to complex pharmacy issues.
The RxRNs collaborate with PBMs to layer on case management style attention, and seek to achieve goals like confirming appropriate pharmacy utilization, helping enable timely medical stability and RTW, provide consultation on complex pharmacy issues, review customer PBM trend reports, and negotiate MSA reductions. Coventry noted that pilots were successful in reducing Morphine Equivalent Dose (MED) metrics by 7.7% in year one and 15.7% in year two, alongside cost and narcotic duration reductions, and improvements in patient safety.
