Austin, TX – The Division of Workers’ Compensation recognized Chaparral Industries for exemplary workplace safety programs and low rates of work-related injuries and illnesses at its Odessa facility. The division’s Director of Workplace Safety, Karen Puckett presented the company with the Lone Star Safety Program Award, a state designation for Texas employers with safety programs that can serve as models for other employers.
Chaparral Industries has 58 employees. The company sandblasts, coats, and paints tubular tanks and vessels used in oilfields. As a first-time recipient of this award, Chaparral has created a safety culture that fosters active participation in company safety programs at all levels.
Chaparral Industries is a participant in DWC’s Occupational Safety and Health Consultation Program and was awarded Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) designation by DWC and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). SHARP recipients are exempt from certain OSHA inspections.
