Optum Offering CE Webinar on Use of Naloxone in Workers’ Compensation

July 27, 2016 - WorkCompWire

Tampa, FL – Optum will be hosting a Workers’ Compensation Continuing Education Webinar on Thursday, July 28 at 1:00 pm ET.

The upcoming webinar is titled “The Use of Naloxone in Workers’ Compensation”: In layman’s terms, Naloxone is an antidote. It was designed to diagnose and treat an opioid overdose in an emergency situation. The medication blocks or reverses the effects of opioid analgesics, which can include extreme drowsiness, slowed breathing or loss of consciousness. The webinar will detail how Naloxone works, its dosage forms and its use in workers’ compensation, including an overview of the various rules and regulations addressing the medications’ availability and use.

The webinar will be hosted by Susan Martin, R.Ph., Senior Clinical Pharmacist and Adrienne Harris PharmD, R.Ph., Clinical Pharmacist Liaison.
