Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the National Safety Council’s recent release of the results of a new survey that found 33% of employees surveyed across the nation believe safety takes a back seat to productivity at their organizations.
The NSC noted that the findings were even worse in high-risk industries, including the construction industry, where 60% of respondents felt safety was less of a priority than finishing tasks, which was especially alarming due to that category having the highest number of occupational deaths each year. Other key findings included that 49% of temporary and contract workers, and 41% of employees working in healthcare settings, said they were afraid to report safety issues.
