Sandy, UT – WCF Insurance recently announced that policyholders elected Kent Cannon as a member of WCF’s board of directors at a policyholder luncheon on May 26. The board-member announcement is the first of its kind for the 99-year-old insurance company.
In March 2015, the legislature passed Utah Senate Bill 63, which made changes to WCF’s enabling legislation that allowed company policyholders to nominate and elect board members. Cannon is the first board member to be nominated and elected by policyholders.
“We are very fortunate to have Kent Cannon as a member of our board,” Ray D. Pickup, CEO and president of WCF Insurance said. “He has a wealth of experience and knowledge in key areas that will help us continue to make WCF a better business partner and insurance company.”
Kent Cannon is the president and principal of Roy & Associates and professional in residence of the master of science in finance program at the University of Utah Eccles School of Business. He is also the former president and CEO of Beneficial Life Insurance Company.
“I have watched WCF Insurance at a distance for many years and have been impressed with the leadership and growth of the organization,” Cannon said. “I look forward to being a part of their future and using my experience to help the organization to continue to play an important role in Utah business.”
WCF Insurance policyholders also voted to retain Heidi Leithead and Roger Livingston on the board.
